Glassnode says Bitcoin rebound faces a key test in the $81,000-$86,000 range

Glassnode said in its latest report that Bitcoin’s 26% rebound from its mid-August low was ignited by the largest single-day short liquidation since 2019 on Aug. 19. During the squeeze window, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $2.23 billion in net inflows, the strongest weekly intake this year, while tokens kept leaving exchanges and wallets across cohorts added to holdings. The firm also said its cycle composite indicator has moved out of a depressed zone and returned to the neutral threshold of 40. The next major test, according to the report, sits in the $81,000 to $86,000 supply zone, where cost-basis layers, reposted sell orders, the gamma flip level and liquidation orders are concentrated. Options pricing points to conditions holding into late September, with $83,300 marked as the upside test level. Support is seen at the short-term holder cost basis near $70,000 and the lower range of $62,000 to $65,000. Glassnode said a stable move above $83,300, combined with continued ETF inflows, would indicate that the resistance wall is being absorbed.

Bitcoin Rallies 25% After U.S. Treasury Buyback Expansion, With $4 Billion in Short Liquidations

On Aug. 22, Bitcoin climbed about 25% in a matter of days, briefly topping $79,000 after the U.S. Treasury expanded its long-dated debt buyback program. At the same time, the 30-year Treasury yield fell from a 19-year high of 5.34% to about 5.19%, while roughly $4 billion in crypto short positions were liquidated. The move came alongside about $650 million in net inflows to U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs this week, and renewed calls from Trump for Congress to advance the CLARITY Act. CoinEx chief analyst Jeff Ko said the key level to watch is the 200-day moving average near $69,000.

Bitcoin breaks out of six-week range as $3 billion in shorts are forced to cover

Bitcoin moved above $71,000, ending a six-week stretch of price compression. According to CoinDesk, the breakout triggered roughly $3 billion in short liquidations, making it the largest wipeout of bearish positions since at least 2021. Those traders were forced to buy back into a market with thin supply, a setup that amplified the move as the range finally gave way. The report ties the rally directly to the end of the six-week squeeze and the scale of forced short covering that followed.
